The FutureChalk remedy

If your operating system and network programs are giving you a migraine, give us a call. Our mission isn't to sell you more machines--it's to make the ones you already have, work the way they are supposed to.

We've helped some of British Columbia's biggest companies and organizations make the most of their investment in technology. Consider these case studies:

OLA needed to design a student registration system from the ground up. FutureChalk advised OLA on how to develop the system using Cognos tools. We also created the development environments and standards, planned each stage of the project, designed the database, wrote the procedures for reviewing applications and for change request management, and set up the quality assurance and testing environments. In addition, we provided technical expertise for programming the systems.

Result: Open Learning Agency acquired a first-class automated enrollment system with greater administrative flexibility.

TimberWest was having problems synchronizing data shared by computers in different locations. FutureChalk was hired to study the company's requirements and develop a distributed database architecture that would allow for this.

Result: FutureChalk gave TimberWest an understanding of distributed client server databases and proposed a cost-effective solution--because money doesn't grow on trees.

FutureChalk was asked to review the relational database design of a new system being developed for one of BC Systems' clients to determine if the design was sound and would work well with Powerhouse.

Result: FutureChalk determined the design to be sound, but suggested some improvements that allowed the project to proceed systematically.

Dan Ridinger, FutureChalk's managing director, was a senior member of a consulting team that helped the British Columbia Lottery Corporation take the gamble out of moving to relational database/4GL production and a new development environment for internal business systems.

Result: BCLC made a successful transition to a system that allowed them to deal more effectively with change and the organization's needs.

BCTel Mobility needed an enterprise data model and wanted to move to a state-of-the-art client server system. FutureChalk determined what data architecture the company needed and how it could best achieve its goal. FutureChalk was retained to provide database management and administration.

Result: Mobility now has a data architecture that enables it to move to a client server system and keep pace with its growing information management needs.

The Justice System, Ministry of the Attorney General, hired FutureChalk to create an application that could run on several operating systems and make all departments part of the new system.

Result: An application that integrates all document scanning, e-mail and word processing for increased efficiency.
